Fall 2008 Registration Information

Welcome to the Fall 2008 Registration

Note:  If you are attempting to register a daughter, please be aware that Newton Youth Soccer is co-ed, but primarily boys.  Newton Girls Soccer is an all girls program. If you want your daughter to play in an all girls league, please go to http://www.newtongirlssoccer.org and register there.

Please read the entire page carefully before signing up.

The Fall registration for NYS has started and once again welcome to our programs. NYS continuously attempts to improve the programs we offer. Between the In-Town and the Travel BAYS programs, we enroll close to 1600 players annually. We offer classes for coaches with advanced or no experience. Our goal is to maximize participation and encourage everyone to participate.

The following outlines the process for this fall and guidelines for registering. Please read this page carefully and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.

NYS Intramural In Town fall program:

This is  the larger program in the fall. All grades from 1-10 can participate with no playing experience required. For the In town intramural program,  Tryouts are required for current 2nd graders only.

This spring we’re holding tryouts for  the current 2nd graders in order to form intramural teams for 3rd grade of fall 2007. You will receive a separate mailing for the tryout schedule. Since the only option for the Fall 3rd grade is our In-Town intramural program,  these tryouts are necessary in order to make sure we create more skill balanced teams and make the  3rd grade program in the fall as fun, fair and balanced as possible.

NEW Registrants entering 1st Grade, please Read:
If you are registering a 1st grade girl, please be aware that Newton Youth Soccer is co-ed, but primarily boys.  Newton Girls Soccer is an all girls program. If you want your daughter to play in an all girls league, please go to http://www.newtongirlssoccer.org/ and register there.  These two leagues are run separately.  Thanks.
General information: The 1st grade program is for boys and girls in the 1st grade of their elementary school.  Games are played once a week on Saturdays varying in time from 9am to 2pm.  The season starts the Saturday after Labor Day and usually wraps up in mid-November.  In general, there are no weekday practices held for the 1st graders.

NYS Travel BAYS fall program:  / TRYOUTS required and CLOSED/

As in the past, the fall Travel BAYS is limited to the first four teams for each of the following age groups: U10, U11 (possibly U9). This spring, we'll be holding tryouts for the U10, U11, U12, U13/14 age groups and the team placement will be applicable for the upcoming fall 08 and the spring 09.  Players not traveling in the fall will be placed on the additional teams formed for the spring based on the tryout results.

In the spring, no limit is imposed on BAYS travel and the program is open for U9-U18. The U9 or 3rd grade group is scheduled to tryout in the fall.

We encourage you to sign up for both In-town Intramural and Travel BAYS in order to experience the school and neighborhood-based  as well as the travel  programs. Very little schedule conflict exists between games in both programs. If  you sign up for both, you need to register to each program separately and the fee of $90 applies to each registration. If your tryout results do not qualify you to be on the first 4 teams for the fall travel program, you will be eligible to play in the In-Town intramural program and the fee will be transferred automatically, or at the parent request a refund can be issued. Each season requires a new registration.

Multi registrants in one family discount (Intramural only):

The Intramural program offers substantial discounts when 2 or more siblings are signed up to this program. Once you complete the first registration, start the next one right away and the discount will be calculated automatically.

Online registration:

NYS is in the fifth season using the new online registration process.  The goal is to have 100% online participation; we realize that some parents do not have access to a computer while others have a need for a confidential scholarship. NYS is sensitive to these issues and have allowed for these exceptions. Due to the paperless approach to registration,  forms will not be automatically mailed to parents.

If you absolutely need to register via regular mail and do not have web access please send a self-addressed envelope to NYS P.O Box 610308 Newton MA 02461. If you have access to the web please print the appropriate form and mail with the appropriate fee to the address indicated.

Scholarship Request:

If you request a scholarship, you must register by mail via the paper form method. The system will not accept an online registration without a credit card. Please email NYS president with justification for a confidential request to waive the full or partial scholarship fee. Once the reply is received, attach the approval to the paper application form printed from the link below, complete and mail.

Late  fees and deadlines:

NYS requires everyone to register early since teams fill up quickly and placement for late registrants is based on space availability.  Second graders (or U9) and U10-U14 groups must register by the tryout deadline in order to participate in the required tryout. Once the teams are full, players who register late will be placed on a waiting list. A $15 late fee will be  added to the regular fee when you register after July 15.

Refund:  No refunds will be granted after August 10.

(An Admin fee of $7.50 is deducted from the refunded amount)
