• Teaches roles & responsibilities of 1st and 2nd attackers/defenders
• Encourages defenders to join the attack.
• Natural triangles and passing angles.
• Develops midfielders who can play under pressure

Weaknesses of the 2-1-2 system

• Overload in CM position
• Gap between defenders if CM does not offer defensive support
